Additional information

Perfect for salads (like Caprese), antipasto platters, or baked dishes. Made from cow’s milk or sometimes buffalo milk, this “pasta filata” cheese is typically sold in brine and offers a creamy, fresh taste that’s best enjoyed fresh, often paired with olive oil, tomatoes, and basil.

  • Shape: Intricately hand-braided from strands of hot mozzarella, creating a beautiful, twisted form.
  • Texture: Soft, semi-soft skin with a creamy, stretchy interior, often described as stringy.
  • Flavor: Mild, fresh, and milky, with a subtle sweetness.
  • Appearance: Pristine white color with a shiny surface, making it a visually appealing addition to any dish.
How it’s Made:
  1. Mozzarella curds are mixed with hot water and salt to form a dough-like pasta.
  2. Skilled cheesemakers take hot strands of this mozzarella and manually braid them into the signature treccia shape.
  3. The braids are then cooled in cold water to set their form.
How to Enjoy:
  • Salads: Classic with tomatoes, basil, olive oil (Caprese).
  • Appetizers: Paired with prosciutto, salami, or other cured meats.
  • Hot Dishes: Great in pizzas, sandwiches, or baked pasta dishes.
